Annual BCKLWN Council Tax Support Scheme Consultation
Annual Council Tax Support Scheme consultation – Time is running out to have your say
The borough council runs a Council Tax Support Scheme, which is designed to help working age people with the cost of their Council Tax if they are on a low income. This is separate from the Government’s national scheme for pension age people.
This scheme is reviewed annually and each time the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk invites all residents to have their say on it. The consultation opened in August and will close on 1 October 2023.
Cllr Chris Morley, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “Every household in west Norfolk pays Council Tax so it is right that they have the opportunity to comment on this scheme and I would urge everyone to take part.
“We are proposing something different to what the borough council has offered in the past. Our current scheme covers 84% of the eligible household’s council tax bill. The proposed new scheme offers no cap on support and can cover up to the full amount, 100%, of the council tax bill for all eligible working age people.”
Details of the proposed scheme and the consultation questionnaire are available on the council’s website at west-norfolk.gov.uk/ctsconsultation until 1 October 2023.
